A January of Prayer

| 26 January 2024

Do you want to know how to know Jesus?

Do you want to know how to understand who God is?

Do you want to know what God says?

Do you want to know His character?

Do you want to have a relationship with your creator?

Do you want to know how to know God?

If you said “YES!” then I have an answer for you!

Read the Bible!

That is it. Read the Bible—God’s word. That is how you know God. Jesus is the Word of God (essentially the Bible) come to life. God reveals Himself and His character through the pages of the Bible—His Word.

I heard a pastor—Bill Johnson—say that if you want to know God, read your Bible. And that if you love God then you will love the Bible which is His Words and is a part of Him. The Bible is a living book. The living word of God. It can change your life. It can reveal things to you. You can gain wisdom and understanding and truth from its pages because it’s from God.

I am so thankful I have God’s word. I’m so thankful I live in a place and time where I can read about God and learn to understand Him and know Him. I’m so so thankful I can have an intimate relationship with Him—my Father, Savior, Creator, God, King, Lord, Friend and so much more.

I’m so thankful for Him and His Word.

I’m so thankful He gave us the Bible.

Now we have the ability to get to know God. That is such a beautiful and incredible gift!

What I read…

  • Psalm 119:1-33
  • Isaiah 63

In all their suffering he also suffered,
and he personally rescued them.
In his love and mercy he redeemed them.
He lifted them up and carried them
through all the years. —Isaiah 63:9

Open my eyes to see
the wonderful truths in your instructions. —Psalm 119:18

Your laws please me;
they give me wise advice. —Psalm 119: 24

I told you my plans, and you answered.
Now teach me your decrees.
Help me understand the meaning of your commandments,
and I will meditate on your wonderful deeds. —Psalm 119:26-27

I have chosen to be faithful;
I have determined to live by your regulations.
I cling to your laws.
Lord, don’t let me be put to shame!
I will pursue your commands,
for you expand my understanding. —Psalm 119:30-32

To the young. Teens and young adults. To you I have a quick message. Do you want to know how to be pure in this world? Do you want to know how to stay close to God? Do you want to know how to keep your faith strong?

God tells us how in the Psalms.

9How can a young person stay pure?
By obeying your word.
10I have tried hard to find you—
don’t let me wander from your commands.
11I have hidden your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you.
12I praise you, O Lord;
teach me your decrees.
13I have recited aloud
all the regulations you have given us.
14I have rejoiced in your laws
as much as in riches.
15I will study your commandments
and reflect on your ways.
16I will delight in your decrees
and not forget your word.
—Psalm 119:9-16
