A January of Prayer
| 07 January 2024
Snow dusts the trees and covers the ground in white like thick fluffy icing. The tree trunks are the color of warm gingerbread. Snow like powdered sugar hangs onto the branches. Golden morning light shines through the trees and makes the snow sparkle like a thousand diamonds. It’s a snowy white land of magic and dreams. A winter wonderland outside my bedroom window.
There is something so beautiful and calm about the snow this year maybe more than others. A soft cozy feel. Dreamy and peaceful. It’s calm and sets you at ease. For that I’m thankful.
Today I’m thankful for Jesus and His sacrifice. Those were my prayers today, ones of thankfulness. I read John 19 today, the chapter when Jesus dies for us and to save us.
Something that stood out to me in this read was Pilate. He believes in Jesus. He saw no wrong in him. He was confused as to why the Jews hated Jesus. He tried multiple times to set Jesus free though it wasn’t his place. In reading, I thought that was cool that he believed. A Roman man of power. A leader. One under the Emperor. He believed in Jesus. He believed more than the Jews who were wanting to kill Jesus. Pilate wrote in multiple languages for ALL to see and read that Jesus is king.
“Pilate also had an inscription written and put on the cross. It read, ‘Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.’”—John 19:19
“…it was written in Hebrew, in Latin, and in Greek.” —John 19:20
“Pilate answered, ‘What I have written I have written’”. —John 19:22
Isn’t that amazing?
At the end of the day…

Today, I babysat my siblings again for the afternoon and evening. It was sweet getting to play with my littlest brother, do Bible time with him, and have snuggles. I love my siblings so so much!
I was actually quite productive today. I got to record a new episode for the podcast. I listened to some chapters in The Hobbit and FINALLY made it past the chapter I have never been able to move past (the fighting and everything with the goblins and the cave and escaping and fighting and all that so confused me the first two times reading by having a narrator walk me through it made me understand what was happening for the first time and I’m SO thankful and excited)! I finished up making a science curriculum/outline for my sister in high school for her second semester which begins tomorrow so just it time! After play fighting with my brother with sound effects and after an hour of recording, my voice is tired and going out. XD
I’ll chat with you all more tomorrow!
Today I also found out something meaningful I didn’t realize. My Poppy (great grandfather who passed away in November 2023) and my Nani (great grandmother who passed in January 2010) were so close and in love. Something I didn’t realize and was so special and meaningful was that my great aunts set Poppy’s memorial on January 6th which was the anniversary of his wife Nani’s passing. How sweet and perfectly fitting. They loved each other so much it truly was the only fitting day to honor and remember them both. That was just something meaningful about the day I don’t want to forget.
