21 days of prayer | praying in the new year & going through loss
Day 8 of 21 Days of Prayer
| 20 December 2023
“Five golden rings”
How is it already 5 days until Christmas?
I know this year is different. It doesn’t really…feel like Christmas. This year is so different than any other. The hardest hit, the worst possible thing, has already happened. We are living in the sixth day of it happening—of knowing—of living in the After.
Still, it is the holiday season. Christmas is just around the corner. I love Christmas. It’s my favorite holiday of them all. But now…I wonder if it’ll be tainted. Not like it loses its value or anything, but it will be the season of remembering…of loosing.
Still, we will celebrate and rejoice in our King.
In some way, I think this was almost best. It’s the best time because we have to remember to be joyful and thankful in ALL SEASONS. Even now. We are called to this. In each and every season to show Jesus in our lives. We do that by being lights for Him. We do that by showing Him in our lives. We do that by showing His attitudes. By suffering with grace. By showing Christ in us even in the hardest circumstances. Even in death.
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God inChrist Jesus for you.”
-1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
What I read in the Bible…
- Psalm 38
- Psalm 39
- Psalm 40
