The True Meaning Of Easter : The Cross
My Faith
Hello lovely reader!
Today is Good Friday. An important and solemn day in Christianity. It is three days before Easter, a favorite holiday in my family! I’ll be talking about it in a moment.
Today because of what the holiday is and its importance, I want to speak on what it means to me as well as the true meaning of Easter (hint: it's not about bunnies and Easter eggs).
Let’s dive into this story and see what the true meaning of Good Friday and Easter is all about.
Good Friday
Good Friday celebrates and mourns the day Jesus Christ died for our sins to save the world. Each and every person for all time. He took on all our pains, sins, and judgment, and died to bring us eternal life and salvation because HE LOVES US.
On Good Friday he is taken, a cross is placed on his back (after being flogged (whipped), a crown of thorns placed on his head, and dressed in a robe (mocked)). The Jews who were Jesus’ people took him to The Place of The Skull where they crucified him.
They nailed Him to the cross where he hung to die like a criminal though he did no wrong. He was innocent. It was God’s Will. His self-sacrifice to pay the price of death.
Jesus loved the people, even those who were killing him. “Then Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.’” [Luke 23:34]
Jesus offered forgiveness and love to those hurting him. Do you know how hard that would be? How hard would it be to show forgiveness to people wrongfully killing you? It's nearly impossible unless you have the heart of God in your life.
Darkness fell upon the land. “Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, ‘Father into your hands I commend my spirit.’ Having said this, he breathed his last.” [Luke 23:46]
The curtain was torn in two (the barrier between us and God was now gone). Now we can have a personal relationship with God. We can talk to Him and ask Him anything at any time. All barriers are eradicated and we can be close to God.
On that day the price was paid in full.
Easter
Three days later, on Easter Sunday, Jesus was raised from the dead! He defeated death for all time and saved us all. He made a way for us to be with him forever. He made a way for us to have a personal relationship with him. He gave us an incredible gift for all time. He has saved us, he offers us eternal life with him. All we have to do is believe in him and accept his offer.
Easter is the celebration of Jesus alive. He is alive and working still in our lives. This is the greatest day, the greatest moment in our history. The day all people were saved from sin, death was defeated, and eternal life was offered in Him.
It is a day to celebrate.
My Family’s Tradition
My family has a tradition we started last year. On Easter our tradition is to celebrate not just the resurrection of Jesus (though that is the main reason) but also celebrate the day we were saved by Christ and became Christians. It is our salvation birthday.
All of us had different days that we were saved but we wanted to have a day to celebrate all of our salvation days on one day. Easter is the day salvation came into the world, the day Jesus made the way, the day it became available to us. So for me, it is all of our salvation birthday of becoming a Christian and being born again.
The Invitation
God has an invitation for you. An invitation to be saved, freed from this world, to live with him forever in eternity, and to have everlasting life.
“I told you that you would die in your sins, for you will die in your sins unless you believe that I am he.” [John 8:24] In this verse Jesus is speaking to the Pharisees and telling them how they will die unless they believe in Him. If you believe in Jesus you will “have eternal life” in Him. You will be saved.
“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come.’
And let everyone who hears say, ‘Come.’
And let everyone who is thirsty come.
Let anyone who wishes to take the water of life as a gift.” —Revelation 22:17
He has saved us, redeemed us. He sacrificed his life to save YOURS. He loves you and is offering you life in Him. Will you take it? Will you give your life to God? Do you believe in him? If not, are you ready to? Are you ready to be with God for eternity?
“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” —Romans 10:9 (this is the key)
Receive the freedom He is offering you. Let Him come into your life and heart. He has a plan for you, an amazing life story just for you. I’m not promising it will be easy. It won’t. I know this for a fact. My life has not been perfect, it’s been hard and painful but with JESUS at my center it has all been worth it. You will not regret following Him, truly following Him.
BELIEVE IN HIM.

On this blog, I talk a lot about MAKING YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE.
The reason why you can make YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE, is because of the God who loves you and put those dreams inside of you and made a way for you to live through Jesus!
Through Him we make our dreams come true! Through him we have everything!

I want to hear from you! Do you believe in Jesus? If not, are you ready to believe? Are you ready to give your life to Christ? I would love to chat!
