Hello, Sweet Friend! Today I am sharing all the books I want to read this SUMMER!!! Let’s have this be the summer of reading books (& wearing cute summer dresses + clothes)! <3

Some of these I have already read this summer or am currently reading which I’ll note! I’ll also say a little bit about why I want to read each book this summer! <3 

I have about  TWENTY THREE books on my tbr and so far I’ve read…like two of them. XD I need to start hustling! I know I probably won’t read ALL these books but I’m hopeful! (I also have a LONGER summer tbr including book recommendations on goodreads: looonger tbr)

ARCs 

• The Looking Glass Illusion by Sara Ella 

★★★★.5 | I got the eARC of this wonderful book! I actually just finished this last month and it was SO GOOD! 4.5 star read! I will definitely be reading this again! This book comes out in September! My review for TLGI 

• The Otherworld by Abbie Emmons  

AHHH!!! I’m so excited that I got The Otherworld by Abbie Emmons! I love Abbie’s writing and have been eagerly awaiting this novel since Abbie announced the project's nickname “The Lighthouse Book” over a year ago! I can’t wait to read this book! My first impression thoughts are this will be a Tangled + Jane Eyre + Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society + The Healers Apprentice + lighthouse + moody + adventure type story! Those are the story vibes I’m feeling from the description! 

• Shattered Reflection by Madisyn Carlin 

My sweet friend Madisyn Carlin sent me this a little bit ago and I cannot wait to read it! This is the first book in The Shattered Lands series! This one is also a Snow Queen retelling which is amazing! *heart eyes* 

• Shattered Reaction by Madisyn Carlin 

I was sent this wonderful book by Madisyn (one of my FAVORITE Christian authors)! I cannot wait to read this!!! This is the second book in The Shattered Lands series (and should be read in order)! This is a Snow White & Rose Red retelling! <3 

• Looking For Yellow by Anna Barroso  

I got the ARC for this Christian poetry collection recently and I can’t wait to read it! I’m usually not one for poetry but my friend Laurel got me into them so now I’m loving poetry! I’m really excited to read this collection by Anna!

Rereads  

• Dust & Shadow by Kara Swanson 

★★★★★ | I read this last summer and fell in love with Kara Swanson’s writing! I miss this world and these characters so I think it is time to go back to Neverland! Review for Dust & review for Shadow 

• Love & Gelato by Jenna Evens Welch 

★★★★★ | THE SUMMER READ OF THE SEASON! I LOVE THIS BOOK! It is the perfect summer read! It’s summer, Italian, Sweet clean romance, gelato, secret bakeries, a mystery, and traveling around Italy! I want to go to Italy so much! Reading this book feels like you are going to Italy! My review for Love & Gelato  

• The Girl Who Could See by Kara Swanson 

★★★★★ | I read this last summer and loved this dystopian imaginary friend story! I’ve been wanting to read it recently so it is high on my tbr!  My review for TGWCS 

• 100 Days Of Sunlight by Abbie Emmons 

★★★★ | I love this book! I read it twice last year and it is the perfect easy short summer read! It has such wonderful summer vibes and Weston is just amazing ! *heart eyes* I will say there is a fair amount of cursing in this book so if you are uncomfortable with that then definitely skip (my clean guide is here: Book review for 100DOS)! 

• Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer 

★★★★ | The perfect summer beach read enemies-to-loves story! This is a fun book that is a beach mystery with the power of karma! Meyer writes fantasy and dystopian better but this was still fun (though there was slight cursing but almost none which I appreciated).

First Time Reads 

• Emma by Jane Austen  

I watched the 2020 Emma and LOVED IT! The spring/summer vibes were on point and I have been dying to read it ever since! This is my hopeful summer read! 

• Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen 

The college I’m doing an online class with has a Jane Austen course with this book. So I either want to read this book this summer or autumn (I haven’t decided when). 

• Peter Pan by J. M. Barry 

Along with Dust I want to read the original Peter Pan! I have never read the full story but I love the retellings and the classic Disney animated movie so I think it’s time to finally read this classic novel!

• The Guernsey Literary Potato Peel Pie Society 

I LOVE this movie! It’s so cute and cozy and is about an female author. It is set right after WW2 (one of my FAVORITE time periods) and is written as letters and telegrams! Ahh! It gives me Our Yellow Tape Letter vibes and I really want to finally read this novel! 

• Anne Of The Island by L.M. Montgomery 

I LOVE this series! Anne Shirley is one of my FAVORITE characters and I love the previous two books! I’ve had so many people tell me that this (the third book) is their favorite book in the series After Anne Of Green Gables. This one Anne goes off to college and as I’m contemplating the idea of college I feel like this is the perfect book to read! 

• Nancy Drew  

I really want to read a Nancy Drew mystery soon! There is one set in Hawaii that I haven’t read yet so I’ll probably do that one before summer is over! 

• The Betsy-Tacy series by Maud Hart Lovelace  

I’m buddy reading this wonderful series with my friend Jennie (@jennie.in.fairyland)! We started on the fifth book together and as of today (Wednesday) we are on the sixth book! 

• The Penderwicks 

So many people keep telling me to read this series (I’m looking at you sis and Keira (storyofachristiangirl.wordpress.com) *wink*)! So now it is officially on my summer tbr!
