Spring, Writing, and Updates

Spring, Writing, and Updates

| a post on life right now |

Hello, Sweet Friend!

I didn’t really know what to write for you this week, so I thought I’d do more of an update post then one with a specific topic. I’ll be talking about spring, writing my new book, taking a hiatus, and then at the end I have a Q&A announcement I’d love you all to be a part of!

Let’s begin!

SPRING

Spring is here friends! The sun is shining, it's getting warmer outside, flowers are blooming, the trees are vibrant green, the sky is endless bright blue. I feel like I’m waking up. Like I was asleep but now something inside me is awake and alive. I feel creative and so thankful. I’m so grateful for the sun and warm weather. I've been praying so much for this moment and now it is here. Everyday I thank God for it.

WRITING

With spring back and this feeling of being awake and alive inside, my creativity is overflowing. Everyday this week I've been working on finalizing my outline for my newest story: Sweet Ever After. I’m in love with these characters and this story. I love how much the Bible and God has been a part of this book and the whole process. This book is a retelling of sorts of Ruth for the Bible. There are other bible stories woven through this story but hers is the main focus. Everyday I feel that God has been writing with me and revealing characters and stories to me. Opening my eyes to see connections and stories that I wouldn’t have thought to write about—topics even that I wouldn’t think to write alone. This has been such an amazing process because even more than my other books I am waiting on God and His timing. I’m not rushing this process because He is not rushing. He reveals the story to me moment by moment, character by character, story by story. I’m finding that some of the times He meets me the most are in the early morning. It's quiet, most of my family is asleep, and it is when I have Bible and Prayer time everyday. Now I am seeing that Bible and prayer time be met by God in my writing. While I’m reading and praying have been times when characters, story lines, details, verses all come together and it's like a lightbulb moment. That is the exact thing I was missing or didn’t realize was missing. That is what this story needs and it's all from God. God is what my story needs and He hasn’t failed me once. He has met me in ways that I hadn’t thought about. I’m just so thankful.

Side Note: I also made index cards on google docs to make a chapter by chapter synopsis of my book and it has been so helpful to see the whole book laid out and to easily spot plot holes (aka. Incompleat character arcs for me). That has also been helpful to see I have missing areas and then God meets me and fills it. <3

UPDATE

The last book I wrote was Broken Ballerina. I love that story and something I did while writing it, which was super helpful, was I took a two month break (or hiatus) from social media. I feel like that was very helpful for me to stay creative and put all my focus into writing this book instead of being on social media which can be really creatively draining for me.

So I’m going to be doing just that and take a break to focus on my writing and on finishing school strong (I graduate high school NEXT MONTH *shock face*). This won’t affect the blog much as I will still be writing content here but if I miss a week, you know why.

This will mostly affect Instagram and BEHOLD PEACE. Currently I’m taking a break from Behold Peace but I will be studying for our next Bible study on this break. Instagram I’m going to go completely off except to do a few book reviews (I’m planning on reading some books this month that I know I’m going to want to post about so that will be the only time I’d come back on).

So this is what I’m planning on and I just wanted to make sure I update you all on this!

Q&A

For fun let's do a Q&A. Do you have any questions about Sweet Ever After? I want to do a blog post soon going into more detail of this new story and if you have any specific questions you’d like me to answer, please let me know in the comments down below! This will be exclusive blog and newsletter content only

I can’t wait to share more about this story with you all!

BEHOLD PEACE Update:

Last week we finished our Esther Study (Chosen, Favored, & Planned by God). I absolutely loved our final discussion! We talked about what we learned from Esther, having the heart of a queen going after God, going through trials and hardships, finding the beauty in the pain, and motherhood.

I hope you check it out and find some encouragement!

  1. 1) Ooh, yes index card outline! I just watched Abbie Emmon's video about writing a novel in Google Docs and so I made my own index card template to use...I'm so excited about that! XD

    2) That excerpt from Clarion Hope...I seriously need to buy the book. 😭

    3) Ahh, Sweet Ever After sounds so beautiful. Here are my questions: Which character do you relate most to at the moment? What words come to mind when you think of the book? What songs capture the theme of Sweet Ever After? What are the personality types of the main characters? What's the most unexpected element of the story?
