Hello, Sweet Friend! It has been a LONGGGGGGG time since I’ve seen you all. Hopefully I’ll be able to share more about what’s been going on soon. I’ve been having a lot of eye issues that appeared very rapidly but I’ve been able to see a doctor and have gotten glasses so I’m getting better which is such an answer to prayer! I’m also starting a new project REALLY SOON that will allow me to connect more with all of you while I’m not really able to write or read a lot right now. 

So that announcement will be coming your way THIS MONTH (within a week or two)!!! I can’t wait to share this project with you all!

I’m so happy to share that Kara Swanson’s next book has a TITLE! Eek! I’m so so excited to read this BEAUTIFUL book but until then, let me share the lovely title with YOU!

Ahhh!!! Ignite is the first in a two-book YA Fantasy series about a phoenix girl living in an icy world suffocating beneath a dying sun. *mouth drop* How cool does that sound?! 

I read Kara's fairytale retellings, Dust and Shadow and loved them so much! I love how she captured who Peter Pan is (he is my FAVORITE) and I really related to Claire and found a kindred spirit in her. I loved Kara’s other novel The Girl Who Could See and her short story called Seaglass. I can't wait for her next book because Kara's writing is so beautiful and touches the heart. I have no doubt this new book will become a favorite of mine and that I will most likely cry at some point (yes, I have become that reader who cries from a book XD). 

I really love the themes Kara has shared about this book. Of understanding true sacrifice — and learning how to feel safe in your own skin (that I can VERY much relate to and can’t wait to see how Kara tackles this theme). There is also a thread or theme of learning to push away the voices of doubt that can crowd your mind and plague you (though it looks like in this world the voices are REAL). I cannot wait for this one!

I haven't read a good phoenix book in a long time (and never one that focuses on a phoenix (they are usually a background character or something that flashes in a scene so I’m very excited for this book))! Do you link phoenixes? What is a phoenix book you've read?
