Don’t make excuses for God (An afterthought after getting baptized)

 My Faith

Hello, lovely friend!

Today I am sharing some thoughts brought on by a conversation I had with my parents after I got baptized.

(You can read about that moment here: Getting baptized)

Today is also a very special day! Today is the ten-year anniversary of when I gave my life to Jesus!!! I can’t believe it has been ten years! It feels like I have known Jesus all my life but at the same time, ten years feels like so long! This is my and Jesus’s ten-year anniversary together (it sounds funny but it is completely true!).

So much has happened in ten years. Some amazing things, some hard and painful things, and everything in between. In these ten years... -my family has moved 4 times (including moving from Colorado, California, and Hawaii). -growing up -going from 3 kids to 5 -finding my passions in life -going through heavy depression and then major healing in God -growing and maturing in God -and so many things I can't fit onto this post! So much has happened and I can't wait to see what happens next!!!

I share a bit about my testimony here: Books & My Testimony

& my mom did this blog post when it happened: Moriyah’s Encounter With The Lord

Anyways I wanted to do a quick post talking about this conversation I had with my parents which lead to this post!

After getting baptized, we prayed for healing for my brother and dad. God did a miracle that day.

I want this for you. I want you to experience healing and miracles.

This is a topic I want to talk about. I want to talk about how to pray for healing and miracles. Because I believe there is a way. Not in a certain saying but in how you believe in it.

You have to believe it with every breath in your being. No second thoughts, no backing out, no excuses. You have to believe he can do it. Believe he will answer.

So many times people will pray “Your Will be done.” There is nothing specifically wrong with this saying. It is completely true. No matter what, God’s Will will be done. The problem is when people (maybe unknowingly) make this an excuse for God.

Like… “Jesus, heal this person but Your Will be done.” Do you know that this sounds like, “Jesus, heal this person but if you don’t that's okay, you really don’t have to, maybe you could, but whatever way it happens it's alright.”

No! Don’t do this.

I hear people making excuses for God. To them, I want to say, “Don’t make excuses for God. Don’t try to protect yourself from him maybe not answering you.”

Do you know the other way people make this sound? “Jesus, heal this person, but because I want you to answer me and I’m afraid you won't, I will say ‘Your Will be done' so that if this person isn’t healed then you still answered and I am protected from doubts and other people’s opinion because I prayed for ‘Your Will’.”

It sounds like fear and doubt.

It can sound like when people pray that they doubt his power. Like they doubt his love. Like they doubt his abilities to be an all-powerful God who can heal and do miracles.

They have to believe he will heal. Expect that he will heal (even if he doesn’t). They have to take it on in boldness and confidence. If they don’t have boldness or confidence, then they should pray about it. They should be like the disciples in the New Testament and pray for boldness believing that God will give them the boldness they need.

My intention with this post is to show you the light. To show you things I see others do and worry about.

I want your prayers to be answered. If they aren’t then you need to start looking at yourself. I want you to ask yourself these questions. Sit on this and meditate on it. What are your answers?

—When you pray, do you believe wholeheartedly that he will answer?

—Do you believe he can heal?

—Do you believe he can move mountains?

—Do you believe you are loved by him?

—Do you believe he can forgive you?

If you truly wholeheartedly believe, then maybe your thing is waiting. God does answer our prayers. Sometimes it is just at a different timing than we expect or maybe he is answering your prayer in a different way than you thought. Be patient. If you don’t have patience, then pray for it.

God is generous. He loves you. He wants to bless you and give you gifts. He wants to see you grow and mature. He loves you. Believe he has your best interest at heart.

Believe he loves you.

He loves you!
