Write Into Fall
ONE: What project + book are you most excited to work on this fall?
I am most excited to be working on the developmental edits for project.redemption and work on finishing the first draft of The Noble Oath (my children’s story)! I’ve been prepping all my November content early so hopefully I can devote more time to writing!
TWO: Describe your dream fall writing + reading setup. (Cozy blankets? Candles? Hot drinks?)
My dream fall writing setup is hot tea, cost sweaters, a flickering candle with the warm scent of pumpkins and my autumn instrumental playlist (you get it when you subscribe to my newsletter).
My dream reading set up is on my bed or a couch snuggled up in a cozy cardigan, a knit blanket, cozy socks, dim lighting, rain pitter pattering outside, candles by my side with a steaming mug of chai!
THREE: Share a snippet of your current work + read (just a few lines!) that you’re most excited about.
This is an unedited part from project.redemption, my fantasy novella that began as a short story but has continued to grow and grow! It’s also set during autumn and winter. I can’t wait to continue working on this story! If you want to stay in the know with my writing then definitely go subscribe to my newsletter for exclusive updates!
This is a part of the story where we meet our main female character. She has a knack for getting into precarious situations. This is such a situation that happened when she was 11 years old.
A few years later, when she was eleven, [MAIN FEMALE CHARACTER] was walking in the woods to see if she could find any berries for mama to make into a pie. On her journey she heard a snapping noise out in the distance. The logical and wise thing to do was turn back and head straight home. [FMC] was neither logical nor wise. She followed the sound and ended up being chased up a tree by a hungry bear. Thankfully after a few hours the bear got bored and left [FMC] alone to run back home.

FOUR: What’s your favorite fall drink or snack to have while reading + writing?
My current favorite fall drink (or anytime drink) is a hot mug of chai with cream, a little maple syrup for sweetness and a ½ teaspoon vanilla bean paste! So good!
FIVE: What book, author, or story first inspired you to write + read?
This is actually a four part story.
One, the first book that really inspired my love of reading and was the first book I was ever able to read myself was the Bible! That is the foundation of ALL my books and writing projects! I wouldn’t be able to write without God and this book!
Two, I fell in love with stories and the world of books from C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe! Lewis has continues to be one of my biggest sources of inspiration for all the books I write and hope to write!
Three, I learned how to write parts of my life, testimony and story from Laura Ingles Wilder’s Little House books!
Four, the first story I ever remembered writing to be a story was a historical fiction short story about World War II inspired by Hacksaw Ridge the movie. That was the first time I ever thought to write a story though it is sadly now trashed (11 year old me started it and decided it wasn’t good and didn’t keep it but now I wish I did).
SIX: Describe the ultimate fall setting you'd love to include in your writing + reading.
I actually wrote an entire story that was like my love letter to fall! It was set at this apple farm with a pumpkin patch nearby, a bakery, hay rides and a magical dream forest that holds the truth you hide. One day I’d love to share this story with you all!
SEVEN: How do you prepare for a month of intense writing + reading (like NaNoWriMo)?
I only ever did NaNoWriMo once. I may never do it again as it’s just had a bit too many controversies for my liking. But when I did, my best advice would be to:
1) OUTLINE & PLAN OUT EVERYTHING. This helps get you to that 50,000 word goal and still have a story that is good and hopefully *fingers crossed* won’t need to be completely gutted and rebuilt).
2) SET ASIDE TIME TO WRITE AS NON NEGOTIABLES. This will help give you the time you need to write. This can be an hour in the morning. Time at night. Snippets in the evening. Just make time to write!
3) HAVE FUN! Don’t be too hard on yourself. Enjoy your writing!
EIGHT: What’s one song on your current writing + reading playlist?
Recently I’ve been listening to Foxling Studio’s instrumental music as well as Abbiee’s (Abbie Emmons) new instrumental album she released!
NINE: What are some themes you find yourself exploring in your fall writing projects + TBR?
Death. All my stories I write during autumn have some kind of theme of death, redemption and second chances.
TEN: Do you have a fall reading list? (If so, share a few titles!)
Duh course! Lol! I love reading in the fall! A book I would recommend EVERYONE read and is a new favorite of mine is The Different World by B.W. Luby! Some other books on my fall TBR you can find in this post/video:

ELEVEN: What’s one piece of advice you’d give to other writers + readers this season?
S L O W
D O W N
Enjoy this beautiful cozy season God has made for us! Slow down. Drink a cup of warm tea or coffee and watch the rain or falling autumn leaves. Walk outside one crisp day and breathe in the cold air. Take time to read a book. Write without rushing. Soak in this season. Rest. I feel like fall is a season to rest. The trees are changing and starting to go to sleep. The animals are preparing for a cold winter and winters sleep. The days are getting shorter and nights longer (or at least the night creeps up on you earlier and earlier).

TWELVE: What’s one goal you have for your writing + reading before the year ends?
It would be amazing to finish developmental edits for project.redemption, get 70%-80% done in The Noble Oath, and maybe even revise an old story to turn into a subscriber gift for next year but I have no idea if I’ll be able to hit these goals or not.
THIRTEEN: Which book has left a lasting impact on you?
Only one??? How about this, one real book and one fantasy book? Perfect!
First and foremost, THE BIBLE! No other book has impacted me, changed me and saved me like this book! This book is EVERYTHING! No other compares!
Second, probably my favorite book and one that’s truly left an impact on me since I first read it at 12-13 was The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis! This book! Wow! This was so thought provoking and just genius! It really feels like a nonfiction book. It’s crazy!
FOURTEEN: Tag someone whose fall writing + reading vibes you admire!
