Hello Sweet Friend!

Happy December! Today is a different kind of post. It’s a reflection post. In this post I am talking about winter, the ending of another year, taking a break from Instagram, and what I’m doing next. If you are from my Instagram make sure to read to the end where I have a note just for you! Thank you for reading this post and coming along on this journey with me. <3

Thoughts

I am filled with thoughts. Winter is here. Snow has fallen. The air is chilled and still holds onto the scent of frost. The days are growing short, and light drifts faster and faster into dusk and darkness. Evergreen trees stand tall, ready to be dressed in a sparkling blanket of white snow once again.

Golden light drifts through the windows, shining its amber glow on the walls. Change is coming.

The year is ending and fading into memory. I feel ready. Ready for the new year to come. Then at the same time, I wish time would freeze and be quiet. There is anticipation in the air. New things are coming. New things are happening.

Taking a break

I’ve been taking a break from Instagram this week. I realized I needed a break. The feeling has been slowly coming on for the past two weeks. I've been feeling drained creative wise which isn’t good if I’m wanting to write a new book this month.

Christmas is also almost here. I don’t want to regret this season. I don’t want to be so wrapped up in my phone and posting daily that I miss this beautiful season and this time with my family. I’m also working towards a goal that my mom encouraged me to make a deadline for. The deadline is New Year (fingers crossed 🤞🏻). This has been something on my mind for a while, I don’t want to get so distracted that I don’t do this. If I don’t, I know I will regret it. Soon I’ll share more about this, but for now, I’m still figuring it out (lol).

I want to enjoy this time away. I’m letting myself rest and recharge. I’m watching Christmas movies, writing down story beginnings, rereading cozy favorite books, having coffee & hot chocolate, and yummy cookies. 🎄🍪❄️

On my first official day off I went ornament shopping with my family, a sibling tradition. Back home we made hot chocolate and watched a Christmas movie. It was sweet and cozy and just what I needed. Every day since we’ve watched a Christmas movie a day and yesterday momma baked some yummy cookies! Yesterday we also has SNOW! It was the perfect Winnie The Pooh blustery winter day!

I know this time away is good for me.

My priorities and what’s next

Sometimes we can get so distracted by things that don’t matter. Things that are unimportant can take away time from the things that really matter in life. Even good things can do this.

My mom reminded me to prioritize what matters to me and have my life surround that.

So that’s what I’ve been figuring out in this time off. What matters most to me? What do I want to prioritize in my life? Where do I go from here?

I want to do more blogging and fewer posts on Instagram. I’m finding that blogging is peaceful, creative, and more permanent to me than Instagram. I can post on my blog and a year can pass and still, people can find that post and read it. With Instagram, a post is posted and becomes irrelevant extremely fast. People don’t really look at Instagram posts that are a year old (even a week old or day old sometimes). It’s temporal, it doesn’t last. Blogging on the other hand feels more permanent. I’ll find a blog and look through their posts going back years & years no problem. There is a different mindset and I think I like the blogging mindset more. I think blogging matches me more personally. This is just my opinion.

I’ll still be on Instagram (sometime soon) but I want to shift my focus. I’m still figuring out what I’m going to do but I feel like I’m getting more vision and creativity. I feel peace from God. I keep getting confirmation that this is the right thing to do. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

A note to my Instagram friends…

I love all the people I’ve met on Instagram and the beautiful community there. I miss you all dearly. I can’t wait to see you all again. I don’t know when I’ll be back but I know I will come back. Thank you all for your patience as I am away. I hope you are all having a blessed Christmas season!

Bye sweet friends! <3
