I love this book so much! B.W. Luby is definitely a new favorite author and I can’t wait to read all of his books!

The Foxling is such a sweet and wholesome story. I loved the baking scenes—that always makes a book feel warm and cozy. The children were all so sweet and felt like real children even in their dialogue. They reminded me of my own siblings which was so wonderful. I loved the descriptions. I wrote down in a notebook some of my favorite lines, here are a few.

In one line he is describing darkness:

Only the ghostly shadows that had consumed the world.”

In another line, Dreamer is talking to Charlie about the dark:

…it can’t get more dark than the night and even then, there’s still a light. The moon and stars are always there, even when the clouds block them out.”

Possibly my favorite line was about the stars:

The Man in the Sky shot them [stars] into space where they burst and sparkled into life for everyone to see out at night.”

Charlie is my favorite! He is adorable—though I know he wouldn’t like to be called that but I agree with Dreamer on this! Lol. I loved seeing his transformation during the story and seeing his growth *and how he conquered his fear*

Dreamer is a cute fluffy Foxling. She is funny and lovable and just a bit of a trickster and master baker. I love her! I can’t wait to see her in the other books in this series.

I think this is a wonderfully written book and I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series which I believe *if I heard correctly* will be coming out October 2024! Only two months to wait!

I think this book would be PERFECT for read-aloud time or storytime. I can’t wait for my siblings to read this book!  It is also clean and I think would be perfect for young and old readers alike. I have on the top of my review an age recommendation of 3 years old because I think that is an age where this can be a good read aloud story and my youngest brother is three and he really liked looking at the pictures!

Also, the author is a musician and made an instrumental soundtrack for this book. If you like listening to music while reading (like I do) then I highly recommend checking out the album! You can find all the information about the album and the rest of the series over on the Foxling Studios website:
